Basking in Your Light

How will we ever really know
When we might have gone too far?
Can we make Love slow forever grow
Or must it explode, just like a dying star?
Swelling with expanding Light
Against a Universe so stark
We, old stars, can burn too bright
Just before we turn too dark
Can we ever learn to compromise
Before Love consumes our Soul?
I want always Light-shine in your eyes
I never want to see there a black hole
Once in a lifetime, almost before me,
- I watched a brilliant star implode -
Its black vacuum would consume thee
- You don’t want to travel that dark road -
Such black power so compelling
‘Renders your defenses quite useless
A torturous void becomes your dwelling
Such makes Hell seem quite abuseless
So hold us here in higher easy Love
Like grass growing toward Sunlight
This time we release that holy Dove
This time we keep our friendship Bright
This time we’ll bask in pure Sun-shine
There’ll be no need to ask for more
I’m just glad to know you're yours, I'm mine,
that you are Free, and peaceful at your core...
