400 Full Moons Later (Moonlight Now)

by Cernunnos Poetry
 Age Group: Adult

Friday the 13th Full Moon #3 January 2006
Moon bright, moonlight 1966 Back then we knew your story well back when we were just age four We used to tell our Mothers about all the lives we lead before...
Moon Bright, moonlight 1970 you were soon reduced to mere cartoon Your magic mystic beauty taken... stolen away when then we were trained to name our world ‘taught’ to reduce all that we see to nothing more important than the Pope on the holy TV
Moon Bright, moonlight 1976 Science soon shrouded your magick Reason robbed us of your mystic tricks When we became ‘educated’ teens and you a thing of mere probability mere cosmic chance, physics, rock, and the Sun’s reflected sheen. Oh Moon, rendered dull and silent then just another satellite.
We were all being taught all wrong of course... None of this was right! We forgot all of the old ways We knew not of ancient runes Nor much of Nature, nor the moons not of the Land, nor of horse, nor of the magick occult of night
So we broke away Solitary intuitives must stray...
Moon Bright, moonlight again 1986 You served me well upon my return when I became a strong young man By your light and seasonal rhythm I learned of wild animal ways by night Moon, partner in the hunts we’d plan You were just so useful to me then.
Then one night 13 years after when you drew me so close to you with your compelling energy You, in the Moon’s sweet gravity pulling on me like the ocean I, passive and powerful as the tide, and wholly at your mercy
Oh Beautiful brilliant Moon ma belle femme de nuit you opened up Her cold shut heart on a Samhain moon, with our first red eclipse and in one soft kiss from the sweetest lips we discovered we shared one cosmic fabric - we’d known each other from the very start
But Moon Bright, moonlight Under you, how wild Her moods could swing In your Light She brought me to such height but with the next red Samhain eclipse She brought on this land a terrible blight She lamed me then, took back everything, and danced wild upon my broken hips
Moon Bright, Kali moonlight How I then suffered in the fullness of you for yet another requisite thirteen times Your indigo light made everything blue all the while that I paid for our crimes
Moon Bright, moonlight Now I’ve now known your every face By your light I have witnessed miracles You have blessed me in Her grace (and yes, She nearly drove me insane)
I know you have always been with Her through more than 300 of Her cycles I have watched you wax so beautiful and basked in your shine so bright seen you sorrowfully dance and wane
And though I think I’ve known you long before that cartoon jumping cow I have never been more captivated by your impossibly shining beauty - than I am right now! -
Moon Bright, moonlight Do I know you now in my prime? You, divine goddess of this night Shine your Light down on me now Come be my source of peace and light, Eternal beauty, my source of mystic rhyme
You can no longer draw me in You can no longer harm me I no longer need to say your name out loud I no longer need you to understand me I no longer longingly long for you Just know that you still make me proud And I would surely never use you I am now just glad enuf that you're up there that you sometimes think of me down here basking in your everchanging glow just happily thinking to myself you know... just happy enuf because I found you.
