To design the perfect shelter
Study the humble larval caddis fly
They build elegantly with what’s at hand
Safe mobile homes in which to lie
To design the perfect cocoon
Look to the Monarch Butterfly
It builds extravagantly with a flair
Its clear jade temple to the sky
To design the perfect summer nest
Look no further than the forest birds
Each different though each built with Love
From Earthly things - not plans nor words
To design the perfect winter home
Look to the beavers’ wooden den
Its good fur coat and castled moat
Protects its family in their frozen fen
To design for thermal conservation
Study our old black brother bear
His energy-efficient use of insulation
Serves him well throughout the year
