These Wings of Truth

It should not, now, be a crime
to be the author of a 'sinful' book...
But we all still do hard time
We, who take a deeper inner look!
You have but paid a trifling cost
for the lessens that were taught...
We gained more than we ever lost:
An Inner Truth that can't be bought!
It should still not, now, be a crime
to write your own black shadow book...
nor to reflect on evil men, in rhyme
To take back some of what they took!
No, we must make our little sacrifice
just for Being true to who we are...
But they will pay their sad tithe thrice
while You shine bright, an evening Star!
It should not still be a crime, our Dove
to look inside men's darkest hearts...
Upon these Wings of Truth we rise above
knowing we have played well, our parts!
