When brown thrashers rhyme bold songs
Through balsam-scented misty May morns
We find no good use for times old wrongs
Where mourning doves still sing on forlorn
When speckled trout-lilies rise up in schools
From under Earth's ying toward the Sun's yang
Faeirie shrimp magickly swim in cold forest pools
Where yellow bell-flowers shaded just hang
When wise northern harriers soar lightly over
Hunting prey in rolling fresh pastures green
Ostara's new deer fawns lie hidden in clover
Where a zephyr breeze gives poplars their sheen
Later when male woodcock dance skyward
Up beyond a perfect May day's dying light
The evening's last bird song drifts upward
Towards night's first western star shining bright
When the first of the whip-poor-wills sing
Unto this warm still dark moonless night
Then you'll know you are to me everything
Beyond us six billion stars sparkle in flight
