If there is only just one thing
That a man should truly do
It is to craft a lovely cradle
Like your father did for you
He made yours very special
I can sense in its fine grain his love
From its two solid morticed pedestels
To its safe gentle rocking sway above
Through it he will ever hold You
Keeping you and yours from harms
It speaks of words he never told you
His thoughts wood-worked by strong arms
He made yours fine in cherrywood
His heirloom choice was oh so sage
For it is very beautiful to work with
And like you, improves with age
He meant for you to pass it on down
With knowledge of both His and Your story
Through new generations once He's gone
That they might know His Source of Glory
