Still Here...
(Late Summer Evening)

(
Beneath the silence listen
There a raucous underfoot
Six billion insects buzzing
Amidst the broken glass and soot
Above the stillness harken
There the whistling wings of birds
Their fall flight darkens the horizon
Beyond our books and hollow words
Below this grey foreboding cloud
Here still lingers diffuse light
From clear skies yet above the shroud
Although down here it seems like night
After evenings cool mists rising
There will still be summer days
Between cold autumnal morning icing
Before She moon goddess has Her ways
Within the silence now descending
Listen to the evening crickets' song
Without the warmth of sunlight sending
They know - its still here where we belong
