They coined a acronym now for it
- Traditional Ecological Knowledge -
Its a new white phrase bureaucratic
That talking heads use like a wedge
A wedge they'll use to further divide us
- those of us who know some things -
To keep the old secrets buried inside us
As they gorge on the trip that power brings
The pen is indeed more deft than the sword
To wealth-mongers and their new soft minions
Adept at turning phrase so truths obscured
By confusing science with lofty opinions
No Sir, the truth is not at all convenient!
And Nature's laws are not politically correct
So grey suits hire hip wordsmiths deviant
To fake new points the public can't connect
Our governments' too much vested interest
So facts both TEK and technical will be abused
While suits slash and burn, true science divested
Their intent to keep a greening public confused
Author's Notes: I see it all around us -- governments using your taxes to hire political mercenaries and hacks who use half-truths, bad science, subjective opinion, and outright lies and mass media to divide the many diverse communities who share one common interest in a healthy productive and clean ecosystem... tree huggers, foresters, farmers, urban ecologists, hunters, naturalists, hippies, the young the old, artists, musicians, natives, immigrants, churchgoers, scientists buddhist monks and moms... we all want the same peace and green giving earth in our future, no?
