O
It was not long ago we lived
Without fast cars and plastic
Life unwired was more beautiful
And Her climates not so drastic
Not long ago men lived on healthier
Accepting Her bounty from the local land
Most lived leaner then not wealthier
With less and no less mouth-from-hand
It wasn't long ago all shared more love
Between just neighbours and family near
Living large under domed Heaven above
Facing death daily with no small fear
It was not that long ago we died
Often in the place where we were born
Except those brave souls who ventured out
Whom from us by Love or war were torn
It was all that long ago the people toiled
Six days a week then at night he prayed
To God for Her affections he had spoiled
And for His sons she laboured unafraid
