You rose a waif from out of darkness
In dawn’s twilight a mere lunar sliver
Bright like Venus ‘gainst vast starkness
By first morning light you made me shiver
I found your fresh presence so relaxing
And I loved your light curvaceous shape
While your first quarter’s love was waxing
I was so moonstruck at your maiden nape
Half-full then we filled our empty cups
Forgetting all boundaries and borders
Those long low days yearned for nights’ ups
As we came all ‘round your three quarters
Then when you shone full high above me
Engorged the mother bright upon my lips
You decided you would no longer love me
Thus by Earth you cast my heart unto eclipse
You then refused our Life be resurrected
As your brightest Hopes began to wane
And though my Light you partly still reflected
Your three quarter lustre seemed insane
It was then I saw your half-moon eyes
And your mouthless face I then remembered
Black vultures hide behind Her bright disguise
Waiting in the waning Love will be dismembered…
You disappear unto crone dark evening soon
Your sharp heart revealed, at last, a sickle
You’ve e’er waxed and waned just like the Moon
And I shine on despite your ways so fickle
