Spread your wings against the cold
To absorb this morning's weak Sunlight
Reveal then your image proud and bold
From behind your perch's lofty height
Spread your lovely wings unto the Sun
That you might capture there some heat
Steal thus from it the heart you've won
The warm olde soul you've yet to meet...
Spread your wings unto the crimson dawn
To ward away the chilling winds of night
High above a newborne bedded fawn
Sheltered by your shadow out-of-sight
Spread your strong wings before the rain
Take now in what radiant heat you can
Casting inky shadows in this Light arcane
From your quivering quills' impressive span
Spread your wings against stormy weather
Despite dark clouds you lean towards what is Bright
Then on warm winds you sail under feather
Beyond cold rains and tethers you take flight...
