Who was that woman in a sports car
At lonely crossroads there this morning?
It was delightful to just find you there
Idylling 'round the corner without warning
I trotted towards you without any fear
As you 'plied red lipstick 'round the mouth
Of the goddess in your rear view mirror
Facing west as my thoughts headed south
I pay attention to such cross-road meetings
Like are these just random or fated events?
You smiled and waved a returned greeting
Then drove away but left a mystic essense
There was Beauty where stark rural roads cross
A goddess stopped to attend to moistened lips
Then you drove on to give your hair a little toss
As I rode smiling on the horse beneath my hips
You beamed there fresh, the petal of a flower
Just before you drove slow coyly on aloof
Humanely easing dark metal under power
While I vainly rode on lightly joyfully ahoof
Author's Notes: Yah yah... I needed just one poem that started with an "X" to complete a series alphabetically ok. Yah, stupid, I know...
