It seems your eyes have clouded over
Like a snake prepared to shed Her skin
Beneath green Eden’s herbs and clover
Where all lives end when deaths begin
It seems you hiss at me with a forked tongue
Like a wise old vipress testing evening’s air
Beyond your garden source of All that’s young
Unto which I entered hardened to your lair
It seems you wrapped yourself around me
Like the black vipress o’er the ripest apple
I consumed by new reasons that surround me
Gripped in your dark Love with which I grapple
It seems you will forever bid me to come hither
Like a snake Goddess keeps me at arm’s length
Thus reversed I’m forced to writhe and slither
Held below your petite feet by mystic strength
It seems to me at times you’re almost Woman
But even Holy Mary donned once a serpent’s tail
Above our Earth your Moon’s an e'er shifting omen
Reflecting back, at will, love's Sun god male
