Come hack out with me at your leisure
Mounted on a horse named Midnight Man
Ride far out with me just for pleasure
From morn to moonlight while we can
Our hunter days aren’t really over
We’ve just no need to tally-ho then fall
But we’ll not be put out to pasture clover
No, let’s just ride easy in the Glory of it all
We need no longer jump for show
Bound collected to railed cantering courses
Now freed 'neath skies we hack out slow
Found reflected, bantering on our horses
Trot with me o’er green hill and dale
Until you want a lovely midday break
Then onward we unto a bed and bale
Where my heart unbridled you may take
Come breathe deeply with me at leisure
Astride your noble magick Midnight Man
Ride with me slowly posting just for pleasure
Shine above like moonlight on a horseman
Author's Notes: I wrote this for a beautifully dark poetic mystic Irish horsewoman friend several months ago.
