You built the moral ship of your desire
Of solid oak and iron forged by fire
Bowed strong true and straight of keel
Before you knew Her tempest winds were real
You made the boat you always wanted
To drift through Life mildly undaunted
You loved the placid Sea and did not fear it
Until you sailed unto Her wild stormy spirit
The sea-worthy vessel that you crafted
Swift upon black waters sweetly drafted
Avowed to merely harness wind, you did not hear it
You knew not the mast you raised She’d sheer it
You once set calm upon the Ocean vast
Blown blue into playful lapping waves She cast
But this ruddered ship you could not steer it
When whipped at last you faced Her lashing spirit
You sailed the moral ship She ran aground
When all seemed lost you then were found
Wrecked by the coast you sailed too near it
Left dashed to reflect upon Her wild Ocean spirit
