Bring on cold clear swollen watercourses
Babbling music crystal through the air
Spring here belongs to mists and wild horses
Shedding winter’s thick dull dry guard hair
Bring on the bold red-breasted fighting robin
Scrapping o’er green patches and lawns
Spring sets the drumming male grouse throbbin'
While bedding does now fret o'er unborn fawns
Bring on the first songs of the open marsh
Grappling for Life anew after cleansing rains
Spring peepers sing from cold fens harsh
Setting down gold below loud sandhill cranes
Bring on this evenings red cloud sky-dance
Mapping out old male woodcock territories
Spring leads all fit things living unto romance
Heading dead-long rebirthed to new histories
Bring on dreaded snow pack grey wolf howls
Tapping fear yet from this gentler mild night
Spring’s fright belongs to white great wise owls
Letting strong lives breath in again dawn’s Light
