Within each cycle diurnal
Sunrise Light must drive the night below
Our Earth thus circles on eternal
Bright between the Sun and starlit glow
Our days are ruled by cycles lunar
Each moon one goddess of all thirteen shows
She waxes full then wanes dull too soon there
Drawing men like tides within Her ebb & flow
Four seasons cycle through each year
In rhythyms over reason spring things grow
Then sweet summer whispers lightly in my ear
'Its that time: monarchs must southward go!'
But solar cycles govern seasons
In their depth, each eleven years or so
Like fickled lovers' sun-spot liaisons
Will March bring warmth, or just more snow?
There's much larger cycles within these
Revealed only every forty years or so
Then turning barrens into forest trees
When returning long white winter's snow
