Snow & Shadows Black

In the moments between dusk and night
Snow and shadows blend the forest edge
Where deer unseen then move out of sight
Self-aware and full of woodland knowledge
Cold fall air rolls down when dark descends
Bringing scent-trails to wolves that howl
Might the goddess give what god defends
For what lives wild dances with death's prowl
Are you the huntress or the hunted?
Will you be predator or prey?
Strong wolves succumb to worn fangs, blunted
But the strongest deer won't e'er fade away
Though we'd all like to live forever
Some tragedy must end our days
Our eternal life we'll never know
Death arrives blood red or just in shades gray
In the moments between dusk and night
Snow and shadows bleed the woodland edge
Where deer unseen there move beyond sight
Self-aware and full of mystic knowledge
