I've walked three thousand miles
Stalking deer in hunting ways of old
Reading woodland signs and hoof prints
In between lines warm and cold
At times we come up empty
Always our cup's at least half full
Some seasons ebb while others flow
In between Life's push and pull
I've felt ten thousand sunsets
And knelt 'fore four hundred full moons' glow
Exploring Light and shadows
'Tween mysteries and things we know
We've flushed two thousand game birds
And returned home with grouse in hand
Tokens taken from our dream-time
'Tween Heaven and Earth here proudly we stand
I've scribed over six hundred poems
While listening to the wild winds at night
Writing rhyme from times lesser known
In between what's black and white
