The Lone Craven

The Lone Craven
Against the throngs of social crows
Flies wise Raven in proud solitude
The former shift south with first snows
'Neath the latter, loud at altitude
Young crows patrol in groups of three
It has been so since we were cavemen
On watch for fresh-killed meals free
And their chief rival - wise black Raven
Birds night-feathered flock together
But black crows and ravens seldom mix
Yet as rules go never say nether
Sometimes crows get fooled by Raven's tricks
So it was one eve long ago
She-crow was lured away by Raven
He showed Her things no crow should know
Thus lead astray She hatched later a craven!
You will see this bastard bird at times
Tattered, lonely, quiet, flying low
A victim of dark corvid crimes
Neither wise Raven nor a social crow...
