Willing Waiting’s Wilt

Age Group: Adult
When the temperature of the leaves are energy’s heat
Whispers of ancient knowledge running in their veins
Wanting all the feelings that these humans casually feel
Weaving intricate balances to catch in their web of gains
Waiting they are like so many warily wallow within
Whilst chanting we walk well in the summer’s spread
Woes they cry into the night for the sorceress women
Watching their companions waking to find they have wed
Wilting are the leaves of old and bending their heads down
Writhing slowly until love kindles the fire to put out misery
Whittled willow and oak intertwine to be worn as a crown
Walling away those impatient young ones always in a hurry
What they are doing here in the council of the elders
Whence they came is where they shall be sent to thus
Whipping aside sighs from the one who’s eyes smolder
We knew well that he is not one of those humans we can trust
