A bright afternoon sun
is illuminating
the last golden apples
and warming my face.
The time is coming
where light is dying
shadows are growing
and the gate to the otherworld opening wide.
The sun is golden
the warmth is gone
the skin of my face
is feeling fresh.
The time is coming

There is a red glow
on the horizon
the air is mild
I feel the forest around.
The time is coming
where light is dying
shadows are growing
and the gate to the otherworld opening wide.
The sky is grey
a soft breeze is starting
twigs are moving
bird song cease…
The time is coming
where light is dying
shadows are growing
and the gate to the otherworld opening wide.
A dark blanket
has fallen upon me
I feel the shapes of the trees
more than I see them.
The time is coming
where light is dying
shadows are growing
and the gate to the otherworld opening wide.
My eyes are big
the wind is soft
I am one and united
with the night.

Author's Notes: This piece of poetry was 'born' whilst I was attending (one of my rare visits) a circle of the 'An Fainne' evenings in Dublins Centre...
