Arcadia

Age Group: Teen
tiny drips of freezing rain splash into my face
pale with cold , and shivering
yet smiling as I walk against the wind
The concrete is dark and slippery with the rain
and the air is rank with exhaust fumes
the shops arround are bright like a garrish neon rainbow, yelling at me with sickly unnatural colours, boasting
I turn away in disgust and walk along the street towards a more inviting doorway
as I enter , the sleepy smoky scent of inscence greets me peacefully
I look arround and see nothing but beauty, it amazes me so
Gentle music plays quietly in the background as I browse the shelves
A smiling woman at the counter kindly offers help,
I walk out of the shop, carrying a small paper bag
The whole world seems brighter
Author's Notes: Arcadia is the name of a shop in Lower hutt which I frequent .
