Tokens of an Unknown Feeling

Once, the feeling was unknown,
Drifting through the simple zones,
Of feelings that were never cold,
Your life never put on hold,
Innocence of a red rose flower,
The feelings of child-like power,
Eyes reminiscent of twinkling stars,
Now show the depths of shadow-filled scars.
Once, the feeling was unknown,
It passes through the heart alone,
Leaving tissue torn and broken,
It was just another fake token.
As the fools tried to insist,
Temptation proved too great to resist,
Broken images reeled into the mind,
Lust and anger you’ll always find,
Smilin’ through everyday,
‘Cos pain was never my way,
Dark feelings enter, earlier forbidden,
Behind a mask of joy they’re hidden.
Once, the feeling was unknown,
It passes through the heart alone,
Leaving tissue torn and broken,
It was just another fake token.
Add tokens to the growing collection,
Take care in your selection,
Some in shards, some in pieces,
Over time the feeling increases,
Tears of joy, tears of woe,
No longer do I laugh and glow,
The pain emerging from a dark sea,
The watery depths bring a plea.
Once, the feeling was unknown,
It passed through my heart alone,
Leaving me torn and broken,
Love…was just another fake token.
Author's Notes: Well, as you can (hopefully) tell from the poem, that the unknown feeling is love, and all the woes that it brings. I wasn't in great shape when i wrote this so it's a bit ermm depressing?
