The Valley

The Valley
How i long to be amongst the maple trees
Their leaves in red splendour
How i long to be amongst the swaying birch
Their leaves a golden tender
The forest floor would be carpeted in all the fiery hues
Ah! To hear the dry crunching of the leaves beneath my shoes.
If i could just walk now
To the valley's center
Past the pillared elms
And through the sun-dried heather
To meet with the horses through grasses green and grazed
And sit beside the sunken pond, in the hills where i was raised
