Samhain fun

by Ankerwytch
 Age Group: Adult

'Twas the evening of Samhain and all through the woods The Witches were gathering with warm cloaks with hoods In their bags they were carrying the tools for the night A chalice, some incense and candles for light
Some even bought pumpkins, each carved with great care Others bought party food, fine ale to share Dozens of Pagans with one intent shared To call up passed loved ones to see how they fared.
When all of a sudden there arose such a clatter They looked into the woods to see what was the matter Dressed warmly, the elements had arrived in advance And were banging the drums whilst attempting to dance
South grabbing North's bum asked her "Why you so cold?" To which she replied "Sir, you're much too bold" West pranced round with East with much vigour and zest They soon had to sit down and take a short rest.
Each quarter so noisy they could wake the dead As they gyrated wildly, each of them said "We call upon all of you, those through the veil. Come join us in spirit and share our good ale"
The Witches grew restless as they stared at the party The spirits grew wilder and drank hale and hearty The old souls appeared through a veil made of gold And ate all the sandwiches, so I am told.
Quaking with fear, Pagans looked on in wonder Then the lightening began, swiftly followed by thunder Under the yew tree they ran straight for shelter Colliding with spirits they ran helter skelter
Without thought for decorum and fine formal greeting They unpacked their drums and all began beating They all started whirling and danced with the others United tonight, all sisters and brothers.
So go to the woods each cold Samhain Eve There's partying there, for those who believe You can dance with old friends when the veil is this thin On nights such as this we are all closest kin
