A Dead Soldier's Plea

I patrol the line endlesly,
Broken.
A memory of a man, a father, a son,
a ghost torn between heaven and earth,
reluctant to leave...
lest they forget
My job is done, my sacrifice made,
counted among the many who have died
in the name of the illusion
that is freedom.
Everything has a price.
I hope the cost is never forgotten,
that you learn from the mistakes of our generation,
for no cause, no honour, no liberty
will ever be worth such devastation.
Fight for what you bealive is right but
do not forget
life is precious
Author's Notes: A short piece I wrote a few weeks ago for remembrance day.
