West - clouds of
peaches melt, drip,
before the last yellows fade.
Everything is thirsty, crackly,
match ready.
Buzzards roost high in Glory.
Thunderbird silhouettes
rest atop a naked skeleton,
antlers of the mountaintop.
One more lift on Earth's resting breaths
will glide them there.
Cool Cave, Cold Springs...
the underworld, wonder world -
another day.
Oranges become fuel
for the red eye.
Consumed, reduced
final furnace embers, fade..
irrepressible heat....
lingers.
Twilight of natural
and man made lights,
invite moths to flutter.
Nightly visits to this
wet, lit, oasis begin.
Unheard echos
pierce the night.
The feast begins.
Stars and Planets elbow in.
