On The Outside

I sit here on the outside wanting to get in.
Wanting to connect, wanting to be.
I watch you pass by and I want to rise and walk with you, hold your hand in mine and feel the presence of another.
I see you sitting there and I want to pull up a chair, talk about life, love and all that is and ever will be.
I know that we could share more than superficial words,
I want to share your pain, your joy, your life and
I want to share with you all the same things.
I want to let you know that you matter to me,
That you are more than just another person I met while locked deep within myself, looking to the outside.
You make a difference in my life.
Yet I will sit here on the outside for mere fear of myself.
