Something of Sam...

Something of Sam is with us
His smile
His stories
The way he would laugh
Vibrant and full
These little things...
They linger…
I can see him
On the sofa
In the dining room
Getting ready to do yard work
Keeping it tidy around the house
Taking us on a motorcycle ride
sitting with the newspaper, reading to Maggie
I realize that part of Sam will always be with me:
At my recital…
Christmas, and Thanksgiving
My graduation….
All the moments that mattered the most
We will miss you Sam.
You touched our lives in ways you may not have known.
We will remember these times with love.
Author's Notes: Sam passed away on January 11, 2008 after a long fight with cancer. Our family will miss him dearly. He was my grandmother's partner for 16 years. Rest well Sam.
