A Day With a Broken Heart

I have a deep concern
Your point of feeling no return
Your declining emotional well being
A serious darkness you are now seeing
Emptiness filling your broken heart
I am here to delicately take part
Where love once called home
It will be again, free to roam
Now trust me and let’s begin
Out of bed, you smell of gin
Shower and shave that hidden face
Your tear stained linen I will replace
More than coffee you’ll have this morning
Do as I say, I give you fair warning
To work you go, others need you now
Ignoring their needs for yours I won’t allow
For lunch I’ll meet you a picnic in hand
Talk if you like I won’t make a firm stand
But smile you will, if I tickle you there
Your frowns I have hidden and your pain unfair
The day is far from over, I have more in store
There is time to entertain the caged and the bored
To the shelter for a companion let’s go
A golden little beauty awaits us at the end of this row
Look at his tail he loves you already
What do you think about calling him Teddy
A walk through the park will do you both fine
I see your eyes, they are beginning to shine
Now home we go, no whining from either of you
Tonight we dance under a canopy of twinkling stars of blue
Your friends will meet us just after eight
Oh here, your tie, let me get that straight
A lovely meal, and laughter bouncing in the air
Just few hours ago you were in such despair
You just needed a break from your loneliness
It is time to heal and show your braveness
The color has returned to your rosy cheeks
And seeing your light is really all that I seek.
