Love Poem

Age Group: Adult
When the clouds, they do gather
and like vines they do grow,
when they drink in the sunset
and dark faces, do show:
I will speak, I will stand fast,
I will smile at the storm,
lips upturned like arrows
and eyes like to drown.
When the drops, they do fall down
and like mists they do flow,
when they sweep you away, far
and to where I don't know
I will sing, I will call you,
I will forgive the flood,
hands open and reaching,
your life in my blood.
I will give my sight freely,
rest my eyes still on you.
In the forest, in the breathing of the trees,
I will give my hand,
and from my eyes, loose the blue.
In the ocean, in the moon's grasp,
I will give you my voice
I will breathe in the water
and be bound, and be offered by choice.
But my heart -
I cannot give, or move, or rewrite
for it has been yours, already,
from the moment,
from the day's touch,
from the morning's first light.
