Ancestress

Age Group: Adult
Decades then centuries so many
She reached back farther than any
Searching for that distant link
To find it all in perfect sync
A legacy she now guards
It was there in her cards
Simple values she grasps with ease
The locks are hidden but she holds the keys
She’ll not find it in any book
But she’ll see it everywhere she looks
Her compassion started somewhere
Long, long ago with someone so fair
Connected to her history
Little by little she unravels the mystery
A gift handed down to her
Clearer and clearer becomes the blur
A life was lived to give another
She shows thanks to her ancestress mother
A daughter of such degree
Opened her heart and found me.
Decades then centuries so many
She reached back farther than any
A woman of integrity she’s always been
Placed upon her my light from within.
