Mother Nature, A Very Powerful Person
by Amber Moonstone
Age Group: Adult
Today I heard that Mother Nature was nominated
For the person of the year. This announcement from Time Magazine, is what inspired this poem;
Yes Mother Nature is a candidate
For such an honor,
But tell me, who is going to give the speech
When she wins?
So memorable a year she lived,
From the Tsunami, to the coast of Florida,
Then over to Texas!
And who knows what the end of 2005
will hold, for such a powerful person!
"Mother Nature, A Very Powerful Person!"
Oh Mother Nature in your wake,
I bow to your power
and do not take,
anymore liberties with us humans,
for we do share the humblest honor,
of knowing such a power!
You are ever powerful when you show,
Us to learn and grow.
We are indeed open to your guidance,
Please allow us this compliance.
Tell us how to make us feel,
a preservational love for real;
All the beauty that we deserve,
that is in your reserve.
We have wasted your precious resources,
Coming out of ingnorances.
We are only human, with emotions
Show us how to save your oceans.
Show us how to perserve your land,
This is what we demand.
Help us to cleanse the air,
Surely you must care,
If you feel the burning desire,
Distinquish that spreading fire.
Stop the mudslides of tomorrow,
It only brings us much sorrow.
Calm the waves and do not wake
for innocent lives you do take.
So Mother Nature if you do win,
Keep your wrath within.
