Prison

Pulling, yanking,
Unyielding in its desire
Will I be ripped to shreds
In its ire?
Tugging every which way,
I find no relief
In fighting its relentless,
Unwieldy belief
Will I escape?
Can I be saved?
I cried to the Heavens
But none braved
The venture of finding
My lost soul unwinding
Explosions in my body
Release some of the tension
That bottled up,
But I could not mention
The hated feeling
Of the unyielding
Light seeps through
My prison
Is it over? Am I free?
Or is it the derision
Of my keeper
Only hiding deeper?
Freedom is only a
Short hop away
And I skip to it gleefully,
Hoping to stay
When I reach
The door out
It slams shut,
Laughter all about
My keeper
Was only hidden,
And the torture
Has come back unbidden
Author's Notes: No matter how hard anything becomes, remember that there is always a solution or a way out. Never give up or you will remain in your prison.
