The Valentine's Day Banshee

Age Group: Adult
The wind keens,
Like a Banshee
As she leans
Across the sea
Of white snow,
Soft and low
Then she flails
Her wild limbs,
Her white gown trails
With eyes bright yet dim
She blocks the way
And all around
On this cold Valentine's Day
With her mournful sound
She may take my things,
But not my dear,
Though all else she flings
With vengeance and fear
Yet she cannot reach me
Either, not ever!
Her, I will never go and see,
No matter what the endeavor
All I can do is sit
And stare
While she batters and hits
With an equal glare
I know she will not last
For very long:
She'll come in fast
With her mournful song
When she reaches her peak
She'll fall back
Then try for another seek
Until white fades to black
When she finally gives in,
Like she always does in the end,
I'll claim my win
And see my dearest friend,
For the Banshee is only the wind
That will collapse and rescind
Author's Notes: I wrote this poem a long time ago, before I became a hermit.
This one is another favorite of mine.
