*The Shore, the Shells, and the Sunset*

As I stare out at the horizon I can see
the crystal gleam of the rushing waves
As they cascade to shore.
On this eve of the Spring Equinox
I am driven to go to the water.
It is a strong and steady pull.
I walk along the shoreline
picking up clamshells one by one
As if I were in a trance.
As I finish walking the shore
I count the shells in my arms;
ten beautiful white and purple shells.
I have no idea why I picked them up
but something was guiding me along the way.
I looked at the shells and smiled.
These have not been touched, nor seen
by anyone else but me.
There is majic in them I am sure.
I found a container in my car
and placed them ever so gently to rest;
for now I have a piece of the shore with me.
I shall treasure all these shells
as a representation of rebirth,
and a reminder of the eve of the Spring Equinox 2007.
Walking back toward the shore,
watching the sunset on this March eve;
I was brought to a place far away.
It was a quiet, happy place
where no one utters a negative word,
and always cares and loves one another.
It was the home of my grandmother
Siracusa, Italy, 1907
The air was much warmer there.
I could see her as a child
so beautiful and lively,
smiling and running like the wind.
It was a beautiful vision,
making me sad but filling me with joy;
and I didn't want to come back.
One day, in the future
on the eve of a spring equinox,
I shall go join my grandmother!
And we will go visit her home
and run like the wind down the shore,
and be reunited once more.
Author's Notes: I truly miss my grandmother "Nana", especially at the shore and during the spring season. Two favorite times for her!
I am blessed with the ability to visualize and have the faith that what I see is truth and purity.
One day, I shall walk along the shore of Sicily with my grandmother.
