Walking down the familiar road
killing time till my car was fixed.
Many emotions and feeling very mixed.
I walked this road many a times,
going to the movies,
going to the store.
I walked into the dining room,
feeling nostalgia flowing
my mind was ever knowing.
I sat along the window wall,
just like I did so many times before,
feeling like there was something more.
I closed my eyes and I was back
to the days of my teenage years
A memory that brought happy tears.
I knew in an instant what I wanted
I had to find the owner of this restaurant
There he stood just like before
Cooking and singing without a care,
So now, I knew what to order.
"I'll take the Meatball Platter"
When it arrived I closed my eyes,
to smell the aroma of the sauce,
I was again transported back.
I took a forkful of the meatball
and again it was a majic pill
I was back to my teenage days
I am so grateful for the chance
to taste the Mystical Meatball plate
that brought me joy and happiness today!
Author's Notes: I was in my hometown, where I grew up, to have my car repaired this morning. I took a walk down a familiar road, and entered a restaurant that I frequented after High school many an afternoon. The same owner was running it, and I had my favorite "Mystical Meatballs", nearly 35 years later!
What an amazing experience it was today.
