Lady Mabon's dance
Will you come with me
To sing a pretty tune?
Together we'll sing
And welcome her back
With a fairy ring
And a harvest feast
Under a full apple bough,
Everyone will gather together
To see her come,
Smelling of the fresh heather
With a new gown
Of fiery down
Barley beer and juicy corn,
Pumpkin pie and sweet potatoes,
Yet Lady Mabon will mourn
What she lost
Poor John Barleycorn,
Old and sallow he will appear
And, when her dance approaches,
He will disappear
When Ostara peeks
Past Beltane's fire,
No longer frail and weak
Will John Barleycorn be,
But handsome in appearance
Till Lady Mabon's next dance
Lady Mabon's dance
Will end soon
Will you come to cheer her
And sing a pretty tune?
Borealis will not fail
To show his wild face
Lady Mabon, upon his sight, will pale
And try to hide
He'll rip her gown,
Tear it in glee
Around and around it will fly,
Until Borealis wants to flee
Lady Mabon, in her shame,
Will hang limp and lame
She will shed many tears,
Until she forgets about Borealis' leers
Then Lady Mabon will come out
To see if John Barleycorn is about
Dancing around Beltane's fires,
She will twirl and sing until John tires
Please say you'll make an appearance
At Lady Mabon's last dance
Together we'll sing a pretty tune
Under autumn's bright moon
