Dragon Horde

Age Group: Adult
Dragons have golden treasure
Great in measure
Their fiery breath
A horrid death
For all of those who try to steal:
No escape bargains or deals
Dwarves and elves
Dig and delve
Deep into the earth
So silver and gold will have their birth
Then dragons invade
And take what they made
They sit on their thrones of gold
And never leave the hold
Elves and mortal men
Reenter the wyrm's great den
To retake the shiny jewels
That the dragon rules
A battle was fought
And the horde rebought
The dragon was killed
And the mine began to rebuild
Never will a winged beast
Come again from the east
An army will guard
And all will be forever barred
Dragons have golden treasure
Great in measure
Their fiery breath
A horrid death
For all those who try to steal:

Except for those who fight
To take back what is right
Author's Notes: My poem was inspired by Smog the Dragon from Professor Tolkien's "The Hobbit" and the dragon from the anonymously written "Beowulf".
This was my first poem that I can remember writing. One of my better ones, I would like to note.
