Not alone!

Age Group: Adult
You lie down crying in the beds near
me, crying, crumpled up.Your eyes
are averted from all who pass by you....
I wish I could hold your head, or pat you
gently on your back, or try to ease your
nerves or pain that consumes you.
Just remember, my friends, you are
not, nor will ever, be
Alone!
You're sitting in the wheel-chair
your family sits around you, but, you
don't seem to notice them, your
eyes have turned to glass. Nobody can
reach into them, people can pass you
by, and you wouldn't blink an eye.
You think that nobody cares, since
you don't feel well enough to move,
or shout out for help......
But, just remember, my friends,
you are not, nor will ever be
Alone!
You're standing up on the floor,
I.V. pole tangling up in your
hospital gown, trying to find the right
way to sit down and scootch unto the
bed in a more decent manner....
You feel lost, disoriented and confused,
what to do, should you ask for some
help, or should you forget it?!
But, just remember, my friends,
you are not, nor will you ever be
Alone!
You came in in a wheel-chair,
you were rushed in, crying hysterically
with the uttmost pain of them all.....
You are lain into a soft bed with crisp clean
sheets, and pleasantly soft pillows.
The nurses cover you gently with a fuzzy
yellow blanket...they check you over,
and do what they can to help you get
a little more situated.....
You see the t.v. in the room, but, decide to
sleep, regardless, even though,
you would just rather forget all of the
horrible pain, that you came in with.
But, just remember, my friends,
you are not nor will you ever be
Alone!
You are sick, and have been sick for years,
you have no energy to move, nor desire to
walk or take a step of any kind, but, only
do so to keep away the sheer boredom.
You have anxiety, and what's more you
are craving a huge pack of cigarettes,
and there is a "no-go" on that one!
You wander the halls, in your green
hospital gown, leaning your head down,
scratching your scalp in the same circlular
motion.....a nice nervous habit you
happened to accumulate with all of the
other tics that come with the meds
you are prescribed.
But, just remember, my friends,
you are not, nor will you ever be
Alone!
There are many lights at the end and the middle and the beginning of life's tunnel...make what you can of these
different paths, and indulge, why not!???!!!
Never say "NEVER!" and throw the towel in!
Never give in, GIVE IT YOUR ALL!
STRIVE TO THRIVE, ANYWAYS, YOU are
a SOMEBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!
and somebody out there, DOES
think about you, just so that you know!

Dedicated to those that are still waiting for help, and need a helping hand, and some care along the way...and for those people I have heard and know!
I hope that you get the right help and are never turned away!

Also, dedicated to my late father, and to many others out there like him in Veterans hospitals and mental institutions and more!
