Somewhere a Soldier.........

Somewhere a Soldier.....
In green fatigues,
carries a gun, and water canteens.
His black boots are now brown,
the color of wet clay,
he walks in the dust, sun's up
new day.
Somewhere a soldier....
Writes letters to his mom,
is company's, it's moving, they've
got to move on.
"How's everything there, miss you,
alot! Be glad that you are there, cuz',
Man! It's hot!
Somewhere a Soldier....
works in a tent...
he's a medic, it's tough,
he takes time out to vent.
"It's not easy to see injuries.
Sometimes, your buddies come in,
and you're thinkin' "Geez"!
Somewhere a Soldier...
eats and m.r.e., but his mind
lights up , recalling a burger n'
cheese.
"Can't say when's the last time,
I've had a really great grill,
but when I get back, I'm gonna
eat my fill!"
Somewhere a Soldier..
lies on a gurney, thinking of
friends, and endeavors, and all
of his journeys.
"I gotta go back, my friends
need me, man, I gotta heal as
fast as I can"!
Somewhere a Soldier...
holds a little child crying,
it reminds him of his own,
it gets him a'sighing.
"God!, It's times like these,
that are especially hard, cuz,
my wife and kids are really far".
Somewhere a Soldier...
via space n' time, has thought,
these same thoughts, in history's
time.
They've fought, they've won,
they've moved from here to there,
they've traveled long distances,
to prove that they cared.
They've stood on the lands of
rot and decay,
they've seen many tragic events
in their days.
Somewhere a Soldier...
has died, with dignity and grace,
honor this soldier, don't take his
"place".
Gun in the ground, boots by the side,
Remember all soldiers, Nationwide!
In memory of all
our fine U.S. Soldiers.
We love and honor you!
