A Poem For a Young Diabetic.....

For Lauren!
I hate to see you get so blue...with diabetes, what can you do?
You can try as hard, as hard as you can, to fight this beast,
get out of this "jam".
You and many others along with me, have got to
learn how to beat this "beast"!
We have to keep our sugars "covered", or else
we'll always be discovered....
DOn't you let this beastie rule, , ,
he ain't no smartie, he's not
in school!
You know the facts, and how to live,
so keep a lid on it, and don't cave
in!
If the Beastie comes out everytime,
we'd lose our "vision" and our minds!
We have to be there, for one another,
so we can keep strong, and
reassure the others!
I am not alone, when I tell you this,
diabetes's not a curse, but, I did not wish...
for me to get this, nor did you...
so keep your chin up,
and DON"T GET BLUE!!!!
Lauren, we are ALL in this boat..one and all!
so just keep laughin' and have a ball!

This particular poem is for a preteen that is on a diabetes forums board...I just wanted very much to cheer her up and cheer her on!
SHe was feeling highly frustrated because she can't eat what the rest of her family can eat...and THAT IS pretty frustrating! I would agree with that!
SO Lauren, and or any other newbies out there, I really don't want for you to give up...because all of us , are all going thru this..and trying like heck to figure out why the blood sugars are too high, and then party till dawn if our sugar levels are perfect! LOL!
Just keep on keepin' on, it's okay, ya know?
