Touch, Distance, or Ascent is Education

Undergraduate education was a training of relationship to circumstance. That is the scientific comparison of all without relating to within through thought. Einstein summed this exercise up as the translation of Newton's action at a distance into touch.
How I perceived objects in an epistemic relation became a trained semantic mental structure. Deja entendu the actual extension of facts after the fact that could only rest with me.
Education as it should be. Systematic study that allowed the student to join what Mortimer Adler calls the “Great Conversation” — the ongoing conversation of great minds down through the ages.
Author's Notes: Einstein also, in his lifelong but unsuccessful search for what has been called the Holy Grail of physics, 'the final field theory' observed that this task had been made much more difficult by the fact that Newton had replaced touch with action at a distance.
