Life, Love & Loyalty
What then should daylight bring
As the twilight softly fades
The silhouette of the moon remains
A mere apparition on the horizon
To the birth of an azure sky giving way
Whilst life re-emerges from its cold dark slumber
There is a silence still that lingers
His heart heavy in the aftermath of the storm
As he gazes across this land he’s been entrusted
The current of the sea has since shifted
And the cries, they all but echo through his mind
With the ever slow rising of the tide
The beckoning of the wind calls him home once again
Upon the Abydos to set sail, like a long lost love
Patiently waiting, absolving him of his sins
His duty, his oath, to his King Osiris
A single oar grasped firmly in his hands
To ferry the souls unforgotten
Yet he can’t help to fight just a moment longer
And he pulls her tight against his chest
His Goddess, his Queen, the keeper of his soul
Fierce and strong, equally she is his protector
Wielding a sword cast by his own hands making
Set with a ring of diamonds and gold
He can think of nowhere else he rather be
Though he must heed the call of his Lord
Sensing his pain, instinctually and unbidden
She succumbs to the flood washing over her
Reminiscing of past spent days, promises made
And the sweetest of whisper’s gracing her ear
There will never be such a solitary night
To which you’ll lay down alone to sleep
His lips trail featherlike down her neck still
Unchanged, after all these years
Like smoldering embers, gently searing her skin
Awakening an unmistakable smile
His life, his love, his loyalty is all right here
With one final kiss, he bids her farewell
