Our Pretty Lie...

Tell me that you love me,
and I'll believe it for a while.
Soft kiss on my cheek you give me
will bring only a surface smile.
'Cause I don't feel it
the way I want to...
And I don't feel it
the way I used to.
Tell me that you want me,
and I'll sigh soft to your words.
But your touch no longer warms me,
and this cold loneliness really hurts.
And I don't feel it
the way I want to...
No, I don't feel it
the way I used to.
You'll never see thse tears I cry,
the tears for our love that has died.
Yet I can never say goodbye,
So I'll live out this pretty lie.
But I don't feel it
the way I want to...
I just don't feel it
the way I used to.
Author's Notes: Ahhh, the ilusion of love can make even the wisest of the world seem foolish. And for the silly romantics like me? Well, we end up looking down-right stupid! ;-) lol
(*sigh*) This is one from an OLD notebook... seems a lifetime ago. A little before the break-up was "official"... We both felt dead, but neither one of us would say so. Two very stupid people, back then.
:-) I like to think I've gotten at least a little smarter... But probably not.
Last I heard, he had gotten married and was doing well. And I've got my sweetie. So... ya' know... all's well that ends well.
