Carry the Torch

Age Group: Adult
I will sing to my Mother when my spirit is low
I will fast, I will pray, I will chant until my lungs give out
I will stop for a moment and listen
The wind tugs around my shoulders
I bless this sorrow, Great Mother; I honor this pain
I welcome the lesson even though I feel I can't go on
I throw myself at the ends of your sunset
I feel a death within me fighting to stay alive
Help me banish all traces of fear
Let my fire be a worthy vessel
To transform the words I'll inscribe upon the paper
I drain myself of the venom with each tear
Hope will come again
