Be Still Not the Poet

The true bard's voice
Whitewashed made bland
No essence of soul
But the soul cries out
Be still not the poet
The true bard's voice
Things called profound
Love, sex, and pain
Are now called profane
The essence of life
Must be locked away
In some forgotten drawer
Hidden, ashamed
But still voices cry
Be still not the poet
The true bard's voice
Apologizing for what you feel
And never admit you actually see
Describing things that can not be
Is this the world you want to be?
Pills to make so you are never sad
Because that emotion is just… bad
Not a world for me
I need to feel with all my soul
See spirits dance
Hear fairies laugh
"Be still not the poet
The true bard's voice
Now come and play
As Thumper leads the way"
Author's Notes: I wrote this several years ago (I have a toddler now, I don't have the chance to write many poems currently.) Posting it here in no way invalidates my copyright and if you wish to use if ask first.

This is dedicated to a lovely man by the name of Thermal who has a poetry in his soul that I someday hope to come close to matching.
