Why I Garden

Age Group: Adult
Soil working between bare toes
Magic with every seed that sown
The smell of earth warmed by the sun
Nails dirty after holes are dug
A sure sign that spring has come
Plants transplanted in the earth
Thunder roars, the rains do come
Pouring, pounding, punishing storm
Tomato plants they are no more
Still the garden calls to me
A growing promise of what will be
