beauty = pain˘ľ

Age Group: Teen
She's looking for all the wrong things
In the worst of places.
Trying to keep herself together,
She's looking to escape this life.
She snorts lines and sticks needles in her skin
Trying to feel alive
But instead she's dying.
She covers her pain with make-up,
Never looking herself in the eye.
She hides her loneliness with laughter
And lets no one see her break.
Strength is part of her beauty,
But in her mirror she sees an ugly face.
She's just barely hanging on,
Stumbling, searching for something to fill the void.
She's tried pills, and drugs and alcohol,
How much else is there to try?
She hides scars beneath long sleeves and fishnet
Longing so much to be beautiful,
She overlooks her true beauty.
Trying to live up to society's twisted standards
She gives herself away, to anyone who will take her
And thinks that makes her beautiful
Though it makes her feel filthy inside
Am I alive yet?
Am I beautiful now?
How much longer will it take to see
That this is a losing game?
